It’s been many months now of weekly practice our there on the golf course taking shot after shot. Unfortunately you still haven’t improved your handicap. Your short game is hopeless, driving inaccurate and you just can’t sink a putt to save your life. What do you do? You decide to take a golf lesson or two.

There are three main points that you need to take into consideration when it comes to choosing and getting the most out of your golf lessons. One, the choice of instructor, two coming prepared to the lesson and three, the expectations you must have of yourself after each lesson is finished.

Instructor

Your golf lesson is a valuable investment of your time, energy and hard earned money. Therefore, the first step towards getting the most out of your golf lesson is locating and working with the right instructor. The pro at the golf shop may not necessarily be the right coach for you. Ask your fellow golfers for recommendations on who they may have heard is a good instructor or who they have personally used for a golf lesson.

The next step is to find an instructor whose qualifications match your current level of play. In other words, you don’t need a highly qualified instructor to teach you the basics of golfing.

In addition, to gain the optimum benefits of your golf lesson, it is important that you are comfortable with your instructor’s personality and style of teaching. A good personality and teaching style should consist of encouragement, patience and the challenging of the student in a positive manner.

Finally, on choosing your instructor, make sure that the length of their availability matches the number of lessons you wish to take. There is nothing worse than going through this process, being comfortable with the instructor and then finding out that they are not available after the second or third lesson.

Preparation

It is highly important that you come to each one of your lessons with a series of questions prepared. Take note after each round of the things you need the most help with. Take a scrapbook and jot down after every misplaced shot what exactly you did with your swing and how you felt when you played the stroke.

It is extremely important that you practice everything you have been taught in between golf lesson sessions. This means that every time you go to a range or play out on a course you are constantly applying what you have been taught for every shot you make. Don’t just think that by going to a few lessons, you will automatically start to play better.

Finally, make sure that you are mentally prepared for the lesson to be given. Have all of your needed tools and equipment with you and remember that what we generally get out of something is in proportion to what we give.

Your Own Expectations

At the conclusion of each lesson you should have reached some sort of goal or expectation that you had of yourself. Whether this means you found the answers to every one of the questions you had for your instructor or maybe you hit further than you’ve ever hit before. Whatever it is, just make sure you know beforehand so you have something to strive for.

Constantly ask you instructor for feedback and make sure you tell him/her to be blunt with you right from the very beginning. Constructive criticism is very important if you want to see vast improvements in your game.

Also, expect assignments and practice techniques that can be implemented to correct certain aspects of your golf game. Follow through on these assignments and practice these techniques as often as possible knowing that it is in practice we improve the skill level.

As spring is coming upon many of us, we all have that twinkle in our eye that this year is going to be different. I am going to commit to my golf game and take a golf lesson. Ok, actually a series of golf lessons. That is great but coming up with a structured full game improvement plan will help to keep you on task and get results for you quicker.
I can hear all of you screaming right now. Wow! A structured full game improvement plan sounds serious! I do not have time for a golf lesson! Well the good is that you do and we are going to explain how to put a structured full game improvement plan or a series of golf lessons together with your golf instructor and what you should expect out of him or her.
You will first need to find a qualified golf instructor who gives golf lessons. This is not as easy as it may sound. It is kind of along the lines of finding an accountant or financial planner for your money. Ask better players how they learned the game and who they take golf lessons. Maybe you are lucky enough to live in an area where there are some nationally recognized teachers. Either way you will be able to come up with a group that you are interested in meeting.
In your meeting over the phone or in person, you need to find out how that person is qualified to teach golf lessons and who else have they taught. I would not be looking for them to run off a bunch of names that play on tour unless that is your goal. Instead, I would look for names of people that have a similar handicap as yourself and what their progress was.
Understanding that you are not taking golf lessons from them right then and there, you will still want to hear a generalization of their golf swing theory. This is very important. It is important because this will give you an idea of how the person communicates with you. If what he or she says sounds logical on top of creating an open communication with you, then even better. If the potential instructor only talks about working on the driving range and not improving the other areas of your game such as your short game and putting, choose another instructor. Period.
Another question to ask about golf lessons is if they will be using any training aids during their lessons. Many times training aids will help you get a feeling or a visual that is difficult to grasp. Training aids are made for all aspects of the game including the full swing, chipping, pitching and putting. Sometimes you are eligible for a discount on the various training aids because you are their student. It never hurts to ask!
The last thing that you will want to know in your initial conversation about golf lessons is how the golf lesson will be summarized or how will you be given your homework. This will vary from instructor to instructor. Some simply end the lesson while some others will email you the notes that they had about the lesson directly to you. This information should also include how many times you should practice before the next appointment.
I told you setting up a structured full game improvement plan would not be that difficult. Following the advice in this article will help you fin d the best instructor for you and in turn help you reach your golfing goals.

When watching golf on television, one cannot help but wonder how men and women can make millions of dollars playing a game that looks so simple. Honestly, who can’t hit a ball into a hole with 4 or 5 tries? Ahh, but golf is another one of those “finer arts”, and it can take years and years of practice before you break par – let alone try for those birdie thingies! For people looking to get into the sport, golf lessons are probably the best way to go – unless you were raised on the greens like dear Tiger.

So, is there any real difference between instructors, or will anyone do?

Hey look, there are $7 an hour fry cooks at McDonald’s and $100,000 per year chefs – both can teach you how to cook, but the results you’ll experience will be far different. While a higher price does not always mean higher quality, it is a good rule of thumb to go by when looking for the “Zen Master” instructor for your golf lessons.

How do I choose an instructor?

As with almost any decision we make, the budget is always a factor. How much money can you afford? Are these golf lessons to help you meet clients, or are you just looking to learn how to play the game? If you really don’t like golf but know it would be a great business asset, then you will want a better instructor. After all, the golf lessons then become a business investment, correct? You will generally find the more experienced and sought-after instructors giving golf lessons at the higher end clubs and resorts. A Las Vegas golf lesson at the Walter’s Golf Academy might be given by Chuck Matlack, Mike Davis, or Jimmie Pollard – all of whom are seasoned pro’s with great portfolios – and with great rates to match!

Do I have to have private golf lessons, or are there other options?

Now that is a very good question. You can either receive golf lessons from an instructor in a one-on-one setting, or attend a “Golf School” where lessons are given in groups. Clearly, you will get more personalized golf lessons with a personal instructor, but the process can take months, and progress may be slow. But if you want to save some money and need a crash course, then golf lessons from one of the many available schools is the route to take.

What else should I know?

You should definitely know your own commitment level. Look – golf lessons are not cheap. Whatever you learn – be it from Jimmie Pollard during a Las Vegas golf lesson or at Greg’s Golf Shack – you will need to reinforce what you learn with practice. Otherwise, you are just wasting your money. So be sure that you really want to play the game, be it for business or pleasure, before deciding to take golf lessons.

As with anything else, you’ll want your golf instructor or school to be the best investment of both time and money possible. Therefore, don’t be afraid to ask for references, or even to interview the potential instructors before making a decision. After factoring in budget, instruction style, and your own commitment level, select the best golf lessons option for you and your needs. You’ll be glad you did.

Have you ever noticed how many ads are on the television or in magazines for the latest, greatest drivers? How many of those ads promise longer, straighter drives? Fade the ball, draw the ball, and hit the green from 300 yards?
Have you noticed what is missing from the majority of those advertisements? They all concentrate on the distance and the accuracy of the drive you can achieve if you buy their new driver for $300 or $400 but they do not say “we will cut your score!”
The simple fact is, if you improve your game you will not spend ever increasing amounts on new golf equipment searching for that mystical, magical club.
Are you an average Joe golfer? If I gave you the latest hi-tech driver could you consistently hit a 350 yard drive? I’m guessing probably not. Would you buy a Ferrari that goes 200 miles per hour and expect to use it for the weekly grocery shop? Of course not, so why then do so many golfers rush out and spend $400 on a driver which spends most of it’s time in the bag?
If you are not drowning in money then the cash you do spend on your golf game needs to be getting you the most value; more bang for your buck. Spend your money where it will give you the most return.
Where is your most golf played? I’m not talking about which courses you play but where you make the majority of your golf strokes. Would you believe that around three quarters of your golf game is spent getting the ball the last 120 yards to the green? Take out the drives and putts and golf is virtually about wedge play.
Buying a good set of wedges will be the best thing you can do for your golf game. With the pros now carrying at least three wedges and usually four, even five in some cases they are leaving the driver out of the bag completely. Does this give you an idea of where the Tigers, Phils and Ernies think the action is?
The golf wedge is the average players’ best friend and with a little practice you can be peppering the green with birdie opportunities like never before. Fewer putts make lower scores and that is what most golfers want, isn’t it?
I buy all my wedges online at auction so I can further reduce the cost. The great benefit to this is that I can save money on a club, try it out for a few weeks and if it doesn’t suit me or my game I simply list it at an online auction and sell it on. Prices are fairly constant so as long as I don’t damage it I generally get my money back, some times I even make a bit of profit.
So, to round up, leave the jokers with too much money in the woods whilst you drop yet another one on the green. May the golf gods go with you.

Imagine the next time you join a discussion about how to shop for golf lessons. When you start sharing the fascinating golf lessons facts below, your friends will be absolutely amazed.

Before, it has been acclaimed as a game for those who can afford to buy the equipment needed. But as time goes by, golf has gradually gained mass recognition, as it becomes an affordable sport.

However, golf lessons remain to be very expensive. That’s why it is important to take into considerations the different factors that need to be mulled over before obtaining golf lessons.

Therefore, for those who would like to know how to shop for golf lessons in the market, here is a list of some tips that can be used:

1. Budget

Before a Tiger Wood wannabe enrolls into some golf lessons, he or she must first learn how to stick to the budget.

Golf lessons’ prices may vary and there are instances where other institutions price their golf lessons really high. So it’s better for a beginner to conform to his budget so that he will not be compelled to take the best and the most expensive golf lessons.

2. Know the preferences

It is important to consider one’s preference for golf lessons. For example, if an individual is very particular with the instructors, then, he or she should be prepared to prepare a bigger budget for it because skilled instructors usually offer expensive golf lessons.

3. Consider one’s goals and dedication to learn the game

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about golf lessons. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

Expensive golf lessons can really do amazement with one’s performance in the game. However, these things will only be put to waste if the concerned individual is not dedicated to do the lessons.

The important thing in golf lessons is to have one’s goals and dedication meet at a certain point.

4. Types of golf lessons

Golf lessons can either be private or those that are taught in golf schools. Both are advantageous to a golf wannabe. The only difference they make is with the length of time required to finish the lessons.

Private golf lessons entail a longer period than golf lessons taught in schools.

5. Shop around

Not all golf lesson providers are created equal. Hence, it is important for a person who wants to learn golf lessons to shop around first so that he will be able to compare one item from another.

Indeed, golf lessons can be very expensive. That’s why it is important to consider these factors so as to avoid any additional expenses.

Nevertheless, golf lessons can definitely help a person harness his or her skills when playing golf.

So now you know a little bit about how to shop for golf lessons. Even if you don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile: you’ve expanded your knowledge.
