The Cleveland Classic 1 Putter features a blade design and a plumbers neck hosel with a precision milled face to provide a soft yet solid feel during the stroke. The heel-top weighting results in increased MOI (Moment of Inertia), meaning you hit more of your shots. Your accuracy also improves thanks to the classic red grip. Made of 17-4 durable steel, the Classic 1 Putter comes with a hand-polished satin finish for minimal glare and long-lasting durability. (more…)

One example of an online supplier of golf club components is www.discountsgolfclubs.com, What you will need:

A. – Shafts are usually available in only one length and need to be trimmed to fit specific clubheads. If tip trimming is necessary, find the trim location with a ruler, tape measure or a golf club rule. Mark the spot on the shaft with a felt-tip pen. For graphite shafts, you need to first wrap the shaft with two to three layers of masking tape then mark the location.

To trim a metal shaft, use a tubing cutter or shaft cutter, using steady, constant pressure throughout rotation until the tip is cut all the way through. For graphite shafts, use an abrasive cutoff wheel or hacksaw. Special shaft-cutting blades are made to fit a hacksaw. The masking tape is to keep the shaft from splintering when cutting.

B. – The shaft needs to have a rough surface to adhere properly. Steel shafts have to be abraded to provide this rough surface. Use a rough file or rasp, or 100 grit sandpaper. On graphite shafts, strip the polyurethane coating with a surface conditioning belt. To maintain the shaft manufacturer’s warranty, remove only the paint and finish. Be careful not to damage the graphite fibers as this will weaken the material. Rough only that part of the shaft that will be covered by the hosel. If the fit is too tight, do not sand a shaft to fit in the head. In this case, you would need to ream or bore the hosel.

C. – Use a two-part epoxy to coat the inside of the hosel and the surface of the roughened shaft. Insert the shaft into the hosel and rotate it slightly to make sure all epoxy is covering both surfaces. A helpful hint is to turn the club upside down and firmly tap the end of the shaft several times on a piece of hard wood. This ensures that the shaft is inserted all the way into the hosel.

D. – After the epoxy has fully cured, measure the club for final length. After determining correct length, wrap masking tape around the shaft and mark the cutting point at the butt end. Trim the butt end as described in step “A” above.

Installing the grip

E. – Using a solvent such as denatured alcohol, clean the butt end of the shaft the distance that will be covered by the grip plus a couple of inches. Wrap the shaft in a spiral fashion with double-sided grip tape. Wrap to a point a couple of inches longer than the grip will cover and leave a small gap between wraps.

F. – Pour enough grip solvent into the grip so that as you shake it around it coats all surfaces (remember to hold your finger over the vent hole). Then pour the remaining solvent over the double-sided tape. With the tape still wet, slide the grip all the way up until it stops. You will have a few minutes to adjust the alignment of the grip before the solvent sets.

All golfers want to shoot lower than the scores they post. It is the challenge of the game at its rawest level to be better and the score is what we measure improvement by. There are many that don’t care enough to put in the time to practice and some that just can’t. But if you really desire to post lower scores than those currently shot, the quickest way to reduce those scores begins with the putter.

Working to achieve a consistent putting stroke requires many elements be performed correctly. Once these elements are, speed of the green becomes the only process that a quality putter needs to  determine. The basic elements are;

Spending time at a putting practice facility requires focus on each element and incorporating them into a repeatable routine that is done subconsciously. Over time, repeating each correctly, the mind just automatically performs.

Your putting mind-training begins as you approach the green. Seeing the subtleties of the slopes, the length of the grass and whether it is moist or dry. Then setting up behind your golf ball to visualize the intended line the putt shall travel.

Whether you plumb-bob, crouch behind or even lay on the green to read the putt, visualizing a pathway to the hole can assist the mind in determining a “feeling” of how hard or soft to hit the golf ball. Using keys, such as the text imprinted on the ball, points the golf ball down the intended line and assists in your setup alignment.

Practicing a pre-putt routine speeds the putting process during actual play. Indecisiveness creates slow play and tentative putting strokes. Tentative putting strokes lead to multiple putts. Multiple putts lead to higher scores. Making 3 putts on every green totals 54 strokes, by itself. Reducing the putt totals to 2 putts each green is 18 strokes less.

That may be the difference in breaking 100. No 3-putts and a reduction in the amount of 2-putt greens breaks 90 or even 80. The putter is used on every hole more than 90% during any golf round. Having a quality putting stroke that is consistent and confident has a dramatic effect on your overall golf score. Develop this, then we can work on that banana-hook.

Lowering your golf scores has to begin with the club that is utilized the most. Common sense dictates this yet most golfers go to the driving range to belt drive after drive. It would be my contention that for every one time to the range, the practice putting green should be visited twice, for the same amount of time. Quality putting strokes are marveled, just look at Tiger Woods.

The nearest to perfect putting posture and rhythmic stroke in the game and when he is on, nobody can compete with him. I’m not saying you will be the next Tiger, but by practicing all facets of your putting; the pre-putt routine and the setup, alignment, controlling your putting stroke with your shoulder blades, your putting stroke will become more consistent and your golf scores will lower.

If I were to ask you which club in your golf bag you use the most, would you say the putter? Well, you should because statistically speaking it is the most used club at your disposal. You are going to probably take several shots to get to the green from the tee but in order to do that you are probably going to use several different clubs. Let’s see. Shot one is a driver from the tee itself. Shot two is a fairway wood or an iron to get you onto or close to the green. If you fall short or fall into a bunker then the pitching wedge or sand wedge will come out. However, on average once you arrive at the green you will take two shots with your putter. That’s 36 shots in total over a whole round of 18 holes, and if you’re not that proficient with the putter then it will likely be even more than 36. Consequently, it is vital that you choose your putter carefully as you will need to get comfortable with a club that you use so much in order to get the best from it.

The choice of putter is not one that can be made for you. There are many different putters on the market which have different attributes but finding one which you are comfortable with is a decision that can only be made by you. It doesn’t matter how many experts you listen to who recommend a particular putter, if you are not comfortable with it then you will not put the ball in the whole consistently enough. It’s one of those times you need to go with your heart rather than your head.

To give you an idea though of the sorts of things you will have to decide about here is some basic information about the attributes of different putters. Putters tend to come with one of three different head styles. It will either be a typical blade style, a heel-toe, or a mallet head. There are also several lengths of club you could choose from and these are best categorised as normal, belly putters or long putters, otherwise known as broomhandle or broomstick putters.

Don’t think too much about what advantages one has over the other. Try several different ones out and go for the one that feels comfortable. As I said, go with your heart rather than trying to make a scientific choice.

Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter only $109.99 in http://www.mygolfwholesale.com/goods-153-Odyssey+White+Hot+XG+Sabertooth+Putter.html If you watched the 2008 U.S. Open Championship, you saw one of the greatest matches in golf history between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate. One of the keys to Rocco Mediate’s success was his putting and his use of the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter. You may not have the putting ability of Rocco, but you can become very effective at your short game with Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth Putter. Look and Feel The first thing that sets this putter apart from other mallet putters on the market is the radical headshape, that resembles the fangs of a Sabertooth Tiger. Constructed of stainless steel with a brushed matte finish, the overall look of the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth, is quite striking, even if it slightly reminded me of the Batman logo. The Sabertooth Dual Fangs position 38% of the putters weight to the outside of putter for a high MOI design, which results in more stability and accuracy. According to Odyssey, “The design produces an MOI level higher than our most stable 2-Ball putters.” Performance Does the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth live up to its billing? Absolutely! Inspired by multi-layer golf ball technology, the White Hot XG is Odyssey’s latest advancement that utilizes a multi-layer insert for phenomenal performance on the green. It combines two materials with different properties to take the level of feedback, feel and distance control to an all-new level. In my tests the first thing I noticed immediately is how the ball would roll effortlessly across the green, with only a soft touch. This can be attributed to the multi-layer insert of the White Hot XG, which gives the putter a nice responsive feel. The insert is constructed of an elastomer core based material, which makes it soft for great feel, and highly resilient. Another key feature of the insert is the textured area of the impact zone, that clearly highlights the sweet spot and enhances feel when your putting long or short distances. It took a little getting used to the soft insert, because my Nike IC 20-20 putter face makes a loud “ping” sound when you hit it on the sweet spot, compared to the White Hot XG Sabertooth that makes very little noise on contact. The exterior portions of the insert feature a thin outer striking surface – Firm for fine-tuned responsiveness. The High MOI of the Dual Fangs also prevents the face of the putter from twisting, making your puts more stable and accurate. Any help I can get with my putting, is welcomed and you’ll appreciate this feature. On long putts, its incredibly easy to get the ball rolling smoothly with out much effort and even on short three footers, draining those putts is a breeze thanks to the Aiming Channels. Overall the combination of High MOI, Aiming Channels, and Multi-layer insert, make this one of the most responsive putters . We recommend you pick up the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth putter, you won’t be disappointed.

While Odyssey is owned by Callaway, which manufactures everything golf, its sole focus is on making better and better putters. Odyssey is considered one of the leading putter companies in the world and was among the first to introduce mallet-style putters, which helped revolutionize putting. Odyssey makes traditional blade putters, mallet-style putters and hybrids, most with their patented “White Hot” technology, which makes the putters more responsive. The company offers a range of lengths in its putter shafts, including several belly-putter styles.

Odyssey’s putters roll true and have great feel. Because of the company’s “White Hot” technology, there is more give in the clubface and putts come off the putters straight and true. Anecdotally, Odyssey’s putters can make a critical different on short putts, usually within about four feet of the hole. The mallet putters slide nicely over the top of the green and big heads make it easier to see the line to the ball and make it easier to line up for a shot. Odyssey’s putters are durable and withstand the test of time. Even the older models, such as the Rossie, (which was an original mallet-head putter), stand up to the wear and tear of hundreds of rounds and still produce excellent results.

Whether you are looking for a crank-neck hosel, an offset shaft or a traditional blade putter, you’ll find an Odyssey putter in every category. The company has also developed its “black” series to cater to scratch-level golfers. The mallet putters are a favorite, though the weighting in these clubs may take some getting used to. Once you know how to swing with a mallet head, you’ll see a difference in your putting. The mallets do encourage a pendulum putting stroke, which in turn will keep the ball rolling straight. From a purchasing perspective, Odyssey’s two-year guarantee on construction is a huge plus. Potential negatives are the price–Odyssey’s better putters are often well over $150.

With regards to technology, Odyssey is generally on the cutting edge. Odyssey makes a durable product that should help improve your game. You’ll find Odyssey putters in the hands of touring pros and hackers alike, and both rave about the quality of construction and durability of these putters. Using an Odyssey putter should almost certainly improve your putting, if only because the softer clubface forces you to feel putts and takes some of the guesswork out of putting. An Odyssey is certainly worth considering and if the price tag is a deterrent, you’ll find them for sale on online auction sites and, if you’re lucky, for resale at golf stores.

Buy Odyssey Putters at http://www.mygolfwholesale.com

They are cheap and nice.

Now Your on the Green. This is where You Need Touch. You want to feel confident with Your Putter. This is where You will find the Putter To Exceed Your Expectations. The Putter that just feels good in Your Hands.

We have researched some relatively unknown Golf Putters to see how they stack up against the big name, more popular, high dollar brands. What we have found may be a bit surprising. Seems like these particular Putters performed as well or better than those we used in our comparisons. The following details are for your information only. We are not trying to persuade anyone one way or the other. We are simply stating facts and statistics. What you do with this information is entirely up to you. We are just suggesting Putters that may or may not improve your game. But will save you money!

The Acer MC putters are based upon a classic design, but with a twist. We added modern elements to bring these models to the 21st century. Each style possesses additional perimeter weighting to increase the MOI – a measurement of forgiveness to ensure that the putts stay on their intended line, even on off-center shots. The weights are increased as well to complement the shorter putter lengths found today or to offset the additional weight with some of the more popular oversized grips. Lastly, the faces are CNC milled to ensure the faces are a perfectly flat striking surface.

The Bionik Putter features a soft alloy insert anodized for a striking new look. The zinc body is highlighted with a beautiful tin-nickel finish and contrasting blue precision milled face to ensure superior performance.Heel-shafted semi-mallet possessing forgiveness on off-center shots. Bold trapezoidal insert frames and aligns the ball in conjunction with top sight line. Full mallet design with accentuated rear weighting complements this traditional offset configuration to position hand ahead of putter for solid contact. Hollow bodied designed brings both depth and confidence at address. Slightly heavier weight preferred for those who putt on slower greens or tend to decelerate at impact.

The newest stainless steel model in the Bionik family features a unique alignment system. The rearward dual struts not only help to center the ball on the face, but also visually frame the ball toward the target and create the perfect heel and toe balance. From the exquisite finish, black diamond-milled insert to the classic spur-type hosel this will soon become a standard.

Exclusively designed for women, the iBella Tiara putter dons a contemporary look with soft, flowing edges, an hourglass center support and is surrounded by authentic Swarovski crystals in the outer ring. The beautiful appearance is not adorned for its looks alone, by also crafted to maximize forgiveness by placing the weight where it is needed most. Rounding out the shape, the Tiara putter is center-shafted for ease of alignment and consists of a diamond-milled periwinkle face insert for a perfectly flat surface.

We hope the information provided in this article will assist those of you shopping for new Putters to make an educated and iformed decsion. We also hope that by providing the information on the Putters featured we will help you improve your Putting. And most of all, we want you to have better Putters for less!

All successful putters believe that they are one of the great putters. Average putters always remember the putts they missed, and forget their successful putts. Besides having confidence in themselves, good putters are also confident in their putting technique. You may not yet be a great putter, but start thinking like one and that will soon change.

1. Attitude – It’s all about attitude. Having a good attitude means believing that you are a good putter, being confident in your putt, believing in your capabilities rather than the putting system, and believing that you are going to make a successful putt. Good putters are more likely to make a putt without being afraid of putting. You will never make a good putt if you play golf believing that you cannot make a putt. Try the power of positive thinking, it really works.

2. Believe in the Putt. You will never be a good putter if you just make a putt hoping that it will be successful. Good putters know that they must believe in what they see, accept their decision, and then know it will be a successful putt after deciding on path and speed. Even though you miss, you need to work on having confidence in your putting decisions. You will get better at them with practice.

3. Concentrate On the Putt. Because your goal is to make a successful putt, you must concentrate on everything about putting starting from understanding the green, reading the line, aiming the putter to the hole, and making a decision by yourself. When you are putting, be in the moment. Make sure every aspect of the putt is right, then do it.

4. Believe in Your Feelings and Senses. Sounds too touchy feely? Well Ben Crenshaw, one of the world’s greatest putters, said “If you want to be a good putter, you will have a good feeling when you are on the green”. Good putters believe in their instinct, rather than instruction. They use their feelings, senses, instinct, and imagination. They know the way to putt without knowing “how” to putt.

5. Use your imagination. Putting requires you to see the putt. You must be a good green reader and able to “see” or “feel” the right way to putt. Use your imagination to see the putt to the hole. This will help you read the green and line that your ball will be running on. The more clearly you see the putt, the better your chances will be to succeed.

When you are looking for the right golf putter you must consider several things to ensure you get the putter that is right for you. You should consider the grip, the angle, the length, weight, and the head.
When you consider a putter you need to consider the type of grip and the size. There is a standard size grip on most putters but it is not always the best grip for everyone. If you have large hands then you will need a wider grip. If you have really small hands the grip should be smaller. You will have to hold the putter and be sure it fits your hands properly.
Something else you need to consider with a putter is the lie angle. This is the angle between the shaft and the ground. The lie angle will determine if the putter head sits flat on the ground while you are putting. You should consider a putter that sits perfectly on the ground while you are in stance to put.
The length of the putter is another consideration. When you are in stance to put the ball you should be sure the putter fits you right. The standard length is 35 inches. If you are tall or like to stand perfectly upright then you might need a longer putter. If you bend over and are closer to the ground then you might need a shorter putter. Your stance will determine the length of the putter you need.
The weight of a putter should be comfortable to you. You should not use a putter that is heavy for you or you will hit the ball too hard. You should always use a light putter when you like to play fast on the greens. If you like to take your time for results and play slowly then you might want a heavier one.
Another consideration to choosing the right putter is the head of the club. You should consider the size and the shape of the head. Most people like the perimeter-weighted putter and say it is the best. This putter has the recess in the center of the head. The most weight of the putter is distributed on the heel and the toe and provides for solidity on off-center hits. The material of the head should be considered also and is often overlooked. A cheap putter is often made of plastic or aluminum. When the head is made of lightweight materials then you have to hit the ball harder. The more expensive materials like titanium give you a better distance and you don’t have to hit the ball as hard.
When you are considering a golf putter there are many things you need to think about. You should consider the head of the club, the weight, length, and the material the putter is constructed from. Your stance will also have a lot to do with the putter that is right for you. Take your time choosing the right putter. It will make a big difference in your game.

Go to any pro shop or golf store and take a look at the range putters for sale. There is a bewildering array of club shapes, lengths and styles. There are more types and variations in putters than any other club in the bag.

If you were to quickly look at what is on display you may come across any or all of the following (and possibly a few more)

Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of what you may find:

Long putters

Short putters

Heavy putters

Light putters

2-ball putters

3-ball putters

Cylinder head putters

Mallet head putters

D-shape putters

Blade putters

Face balanced putters

…and the list goes on!

With all this choice, how do you know if you have a putter that will work for you? Well, first and foremost, don’t get overwhelmed by all the choice. Here are my recommendations on getting a putter:Invest in a decent putter!

You can spend many 100’s of dollars on a driver which you may only use 10 times a round. Remember that you hit almost 50% of your shots with the putter, so get something you are going to be comfortable with. As with most things you get what you pay for, so if you buy something really cheap the chances are it just won’t help you in the long run.Choose a relatively ’standard’ putter

Shoulder high putters, ‘belly’ putters etc. are not standard and do not promote learning proper technique. Standard putters have a length in the range 33 to 35 inches (84-90cm), and research actually shows that statistically the shorter putters perform better.Test the putter

You must actually try the putters out to see how they feel. This is just as important with putters as it is with all clubs. Choose 3 or 4 putters that you think are going to be the ones you like and test them against each other. Preferably take the putters onto a real green (or synthetic green) as opposed to putting on the shop floor carpet. Hitting real balls in to real holes on a real green will give you a real feel.Get the putter custom fitted

Chances are that any putter you buy may still not be quite right for you. After all we are not all the same height, weight and shape, so it would be a bit much to assume that an off the shelf putting would be right for all of us. Have the professional check the length and lie-angle for you and adjust it if necessary. This should be part of the service when buying a putter at any decent golf store or pro shop.

If you bear these tips in mind when buying your next putter you will be confident you have the right putter for you. Confidence builds success.

Too many people spend hours at the driving range, trying to tweak and master their drive, but what good does that do if they cannot sink a putt.

Hitting the green in one stroke on a 196 yard Par 3 is meaningless if it takes 3 putts to sink the ball – a bogie is a bogie. It takes a deep understanding of the game, the mechanics of golf and a respect for the shear importance of the short game to ensure that your putting game is as successful as possible.

It’s no secret that people have trouble with their putting game. If you visit your nearest golf club and watch the people there putting, you’ll notice the two most common mistakes in any putting game:

The putter is being pulled back and yanked through the motion.

Their head is lifted from the club as soon as or before the club makes contact with the ball.

These two common flaws sound like mistakes when you write them down and discuss them, but on the green, you probably make the exact same mistakes and may not even realize how often you are doing so. Watch a successful putter in the PGA. Tiger Woods’ putting game starts with a single stroke that smoothly follows through, the takeaway and follow through exactly the same length. They keep their heads down throughout the shot and wait to listen for the ball dropping into its cup. The only time you should ever lift your head from a putt is if it is a long putt of more than 15 yards and your stroke is one-hundred percent complete.

The key to finding success in your putting game is not in simply overcoming these simple flaws though – it is shocking just how hard that can be. You must practice regularly and step back to ensure that you can quiet your mind – removing every extraneous thought from it carefully and focusing intently on your breathing.

In addition, you must be able to learn how to read the greens successfully. This takes careful, repeated observation of the greens while playing. If you are good at the art of putting, you will never be content with your own shot – you will watch everyone that goes before you to look for shapes in the green and curves on the ground.

Practicing Your Putting

You should practice putting as often as possible. One good way to do this is by creating a corridor through which you can shoot your ball. Set two clubs down on the green, about 6 feet away from the hole. Place them parallel to each other and facing directly toward the hole and try repeatedly to punch the ball directly between the clubs.
Use this opportunity to measure your backswing and follow through and ensure that you have the right measurements and length on your shots for each stroke. This also lets you work on your alignment to see where you should be standing to make a straight shot.

Ideally, if you create a good form and practice your putting regularly, you can overcome some of the most common mistakes people suffer from on the greens. This will vastly improve your putting game and almost always lower your score significantly.

Seems like every time he has a putt of 30 feet or more, the ball grazes the hole or finishes a foot away for Tiger Woods.

No. 1, he puts a great roll on the ball, and that’s because his mechanics are very solid. The face of his putter is squaring to the path at impact, not cutting against it, and he has that constant acceleration. He never looks like he’s holding the putter back or accelerating it; it looks like the putter accelerates itself. And finally, he practices long, breaking putts. You’ve got to hit it solid to be close to the hole from long range.

Tiger talks about releasing the putterhead.

That’s a word that describes a specific feel for a very good player. It goes back to the pendulum: if you keep your center (head and sternum) still and you let the weight of the putter go past your center, that’s releasing the putter. I don’t think it’s flipping the putter or necessarily closing the face; it just has to do with simply letting the putter go past your center.

Is there a drill you’d recommend for short putts, long putts, or both?

Hit your long putt first, then try and convert the short one.

Most golfers have what I like to refer to as a signature backstroke. They take the club back the same distance for almost all putts. Let’s say it’s 12 inches – if they take it back 12 inches on a 4-foot putt their brain starts screaming, “Slow down!” If they take it back 12 inches on a 40-foot putt their brain screams, “Speed up!” Ultimately, what you really want to learn is what length backstroke is right for each putt. If you’ve got a 4-foot putt you should really have a backstroke of 6 inches. (Normal green speed, stimped at 10). If you’ve got a 40-foot putt you really need a backstroke that’s somewhere around 15 inches, so you’re allowing the putterhead to create its own momentum.

Think about a pendulum: A pendulum you swing way back and the distance it travels determines how fast it moves forward. If you swung it 6 inches it would swing slower than if you swung it 15 inches. What happens with most people is they’re controlling the putter’s speed versus letting it swing by itself. If you look at the best putters, they have a constant rate of acceleration and an equal back and through motion.

Any advice for the weekend golfer?

There are 10 people come through our short game school regularly, and I think 70 percent have the wrong putter; it’s not the right specifications for them. So they’re never going to get better. It’s like glasses: You won’t see clearly until you have the right specs.

Stop wasting your time with band-aids and quick fixes that don’t do anything. Get to the heart of the problem, and get fitted.
